Polka Dot Perfection

My parents brought this polka-dot dress back from Spain and boy was it greatly appreciated. Thanks Mama, you know my adoration of the classic print all too well. A simple polka-dot dress, or any print for that matter, is a great base piece for anyone's wardrobe. I often get caught up in search for the most unique or eye-catching item that I don't have any simple things to pair them with. I chose a denim button-down and a tortoise shell belt to add some shape to the dress and a bright comfy sandal for Saturday sightseeing in Tuscaloosa. We have such a history-rich city here that goes unnoticed by the consumption of school-life. My roommate and I got to explore the remains of The Capitol building circa 1826 before we hunkered down for finals week. Wish us luck!

An ode to a dress I will never have.

Late sunday night, in my search for Coachella 2012 fashion trends to put in my CW column, I came across this...
The beautiful Dree Hemingway in Dolce and Gabbana.

Why such a big deal you ask? I can't say exactly, but I have mulled over the thought of this gem in my closet countless times this week. It may be the oversized chile peppers dancing across both bodice and skirt or the classic a-line silhouette the modern wardrobe all too often lacks. What-ever it is, I am entranced by this two-piece D&G creation.

Side note: This perfectly displays the right way to show skin after the age of 15. The tiny bare sliver above the navel spices up the already "flavorful" ensemble.

Sadly, the two are a tad over my budget. Close to two grand. College...

Spring Time Green Time

This past weekend I went to see UA's production of Chicago. It was spectacular, as I think of most all musical productions. These days I see green as more of a neutral; I just realized how many kelly green articles of clothing I owned. These green jeans I got from Urban Outfitters and paired them with a light-weight cream blazer and a bright clutch. For every special occasion (anything besides class) I gotta have the winged eyeliner and stacked bracelets. Don't worry friends, I will work on that pasty pale complexion this weekend.

I also got to celebrate earth day with a two beautiful friends at the earth day festival at Capitol Park. It was a day of picnicking, saving creeks, and elderly gentlemen and their string band.  Again, the green. I don't know what it is.

P.S. This lovely lady is my personal photographer, thanks again.

Hello.

I've been putting this off for a while now, stuck between excitement and nerves —excited to document my personal style and daily happenings and nervous to put myself on the vast superhighway for others to see. I'm interested to see where this goes, or rather where I propel it. This will be fun.

I guess I should introduce myself. I'm a sophomore at The University of Alabama majoring in journalism and art. Now that's out of the way...
Some say it's obnoxious, I say it's confidence.

I am a lover of all things new. I enjoy company, especially the ever-growing already-ample family I am blessed with. I covet encouragement but I dress for myself—impractical, retro, and a tad sparkly.

Thank you Sarah Thigpen

I am happy to now be a part of the blog community. Enjoy.
