IMG_0784To round out my Christmas break, I took a trip to see my lovely summer roommates in our old stomping grounds. It was so nice to see New York in all of her wintery, snowy glory. Due to the "polar vortex" sweeping across the country, mostof my carefully calculated outfits—deemed unworthy to wear to Chili's or Panera Bread at home—ended up not being able to keep out the bitter cold, thus remained at the bottom of my suitcase. However, our trip to brunch at Rosemary's and walk around Central Park proved perfect weather to sport my most prized Christmas present, my J.Crew moto skirt. I'm crossing my fingers this will be my last visit. Also, this bag is everything I've been looking for in a carry-on, carry-all, out and about bag for a couple years now. Plus it adds a punchy chic note to any drab legging/sweater look I find myself in when school starts.

I am a little late, but after watching One Day with Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess I just could not get over Hathaway's quirky vintage style that progressed throughout the film. I decided to recreate one of her looks using pieces from my own wardrobe. Of course, it was the scene where her hair was whacked off—I need a little confidence boost from my fellow pixie cuts. It's hard to keep that up where mermaid locks are so often coveted. Anyways, pity party concluded. I give you my One Day interpretation. It's not exactly the same, but I feel like me breezy collared button down and textured pencil skirt have the same classic effect as Ms. Hathaway.

P.S. Isn't downtown Northport beautiful?

Baby Clothes

Overalls most often give off an elementary school impression but with proper layering can be transformed from an infant bodysuit most often seen on six and unders to a look desired by adults of the fashion conscious variety. In my interpretation of the denim onesie, I chose a soft pink blazer to add a note of sophistication and coral platforms to counter an otherwise kindergarten ensemble. Together, with the granny clutch and oversized cuff the combination no longer resembles a child of the 90's but a silly lady trying to look coy in adult overalls.

Thanks, Mallory for so graciously putting up with the pre-coffee photo-shoot.

These are a few of my favorite things..

My favorite cut-off levis circa 2008, plus my favorite band shirt plus black booties I never thought I needed until I found out they were $10, plus  collared shirt and collared necklace, bright bag, and a bold lip needless accessories equals my personality in an outfit. Although impractical, I just can't wear shorts and a t-shirt. It pains me. I believe through and through that it is the accessories that make an ensemble—hence the cluttered mess I call my grocery shopping/ice cream licking/saturday strolling uniform. I'll stop rambling now; these are my favorite things (trending or not).

Boom. Me. Superfluous accessories. My favorite.

Polka Dot Perfection

My parents brought this polka-dot dress back from Spain and boy was it greatly appreciated. Thanks Mama, you know my adoration of the classic print all too well. A simple polka-dot dress, or any print for that matter, is a great base piece for anyone's wardrobe. I often get caught up in search for the most unique or eye-catching item that I don't have any simple things to pair them with. I chose a denim button-down and a tortoise shell belt to add some shape to the dress and a bright comfy sandal for Saturday sightseeing in Tuscaloosa. We have such a history-rich city here that goes unnoticed by the consumption of school-life. My roommate and I got to explore the remains of The Capitol building circa 1826 before we hunkered down for finals week. Wish us luck!

Spring Time Green Time

This past weekend I went to see UA's production of Chicago. It was spectacular, as I think of most all musical productions. These days I see green as more of a neutral; I just realized how many kelly green articles of clothing I owned. These green jeans I got from Urban Outfitters and paired them with a light-weight cream blazer and a bright clutch. For every special occasion (anything besides class) I gotta have the winged eyeliner and stacked bracelets. Don't worry friends, I will work on that pasty pale complexion this weekend.

I also got to celebrate earth day with a two beautiful friends at the earth day festival at Capitol Park. It was a day of picnicking, saving creeks, and elderly gentlemen and their string band.  Again, the green. I don't know what it is.
P.S. This lovely lady is my personal photographer, thanks again.
